Rafat Ali Gets First Round Funding
Rafat Ali, the owner and blogger of the infamous paidContent.org site that’s broken more top news than most normal bloggers can dream of, announces that his parent company just recieved it’s first round of funding from Alan Patricof’s new venture firm, Greycroft Partners.
ContentNext Media, the parent company of our three sites – paidContent.org, MocoNews.net and ContentSutra — has received its first round of investment from Alan Patricof’s new venture firm Greycroft Partners.
Rafat was approached by the VC firm in January ‘06 and met with them later that month in New York where they immediately struck a deal.
Their first order of business:
We’ll be hiring a journalist in NYC, starting our UK vertical, launching a redesign of all our sites, hiring more staff for operations and sales, bringing on interns, planning more industry mixers and developing conferences, starting our research arm, and more.
