Blogs are NOT Magazines
Henry Copeland over at the Blogads blog points us to a great article by Josh Marshall, comparing the responsiveness of blogs to some of the print magazines he’s worked for. Josh says:
I can understand someone from the world of small magazines being shocked by the responsiveness, rambuctiousness and even hair trigger hostility of the blogosphere. I haven’t done much magazine writing in the last couple years. But I come out of that world of small political magazines. And it is, in many more than just the obvious ways, a different world.
I’ve heard a lot of print journalists talk about how making the move to blogging would be an easy transition. Just write the same stuff online using MT or Wordpress. Not so.
Check out the article over at Josh’s TalkingPoints Memo.com blog. It gives some excellent insight into how blogs and print magazines are totally different animals, from someone who’s been there.
